Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has forecast widespread rain with a few thunderstorms throughout the country in the next three days.
According to the Met Office, few heavy showers are also expected in the north and central atolls.
During the last 24 hours 23.1 millilitres of rain fall was recorded in Male’ area while 30.2 millilitres of rain fall was recorded in Kadhdhoo of Laamu Atoll during the same period, the Met Office said.
Surface winds will vary between west to north-westerly 8 to 18 miles per hour in southern atolls and 5 to 13 miles per hour elsewhere in the next 24 hours while winds may gust 35 miles per hour during showers, according to the weather forecast. Seas are expected to be moderate in southern atolls and slight becoming moderate during showers elsewhere.
