Public Service Media (PSM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to establish a TV channel to promote Islam.
At a ceremony held at PSM Radio Building Wednesday, the MoU was signed by Managing Director of PSM, Ibrahim Khaleel and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Ziyad.
After signing the agreement, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ziyad praised President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for appointing people with experience and knowledge to various institutions.
He highlighted efforts made by the Islamic Ministry to promote Islam across the country including the proposed religious TV channel.
Speaking at the function, Deputy Managing Director of PSM, Mohamed Ikram said PSM is making every effort to fulfil its mandate of creating religious awareness among the people.
