Gov’t. aspires to elevate int’l standing of IUM: Munawar

Finance Minister Ahmed Munawar has said the Government aspires to transform the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) into an institution favoured by students from other countries. He made the remarks at a ceremony held Tuesday night to handover award letters to those who received scholarships from IUM and other affiliated foreign institutions.

The Minister said that Government will seek necessary assistance to elevate the national and international standing of the university. 

Speaking at the event, IUM's Chancellor Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed noted the support received from affiliated international institutes to develop IUM.

10 students were presented scholarship award letters at the ceremony, including four PHD scholarships from the International Institute of Islamic Thought, four PHD scholarships provided by Universiti Brunei Darussalam, and one PHD scholarship from IUM.
