Ministry of Housing has awarded a 10,000 square feet land in Male’ Industrial Village to State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) to construct and operate a back-up generator to be used in emergencies.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Managing Director of STELCO, Mr. Abdul Shukoor at a ceremony held at the Ministry.
Speaking at the ceremony Housing Minister Dr. Muizzu said the land was awarded to STELCO to provide the necessary electrical grids and services to the area, as well as to be utilized as a back-up for emergency situations in Male’ City,.
The work on the engine would be completed and be operational within 18 months, according to STELCO MD.
