South Asian Management Forum 2017 begins in Maldives

The 14th South Asian Management Forum (SAMF) has begun in Maldives.

This is a forum that brings together academic professionals in the management field with the aim of exchanging knowledge. SAMF is a biennial conference organized by the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA).

The 14th SAMF is being hosted by the Business School of Maldives National University (MNU). The forum is being held from April 24- April 26, 2017 at Bandos Island Resort. The theme of the 14th SAMF 2017 is "Governance and Public Policy - Role of Management Development".

The forum aims to bring together management experts, scholars, practicing managers, business leaders, policy administrators and other academicians from different countries of South Asia on a platform to discuss various connected issues and share their research findings. With the aid of research papers presented in the forum, a blueprint for governance and management targeting South Asia, is to be produced.

Inaugurating the forum, the Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed, noted the importance of knowing management models which are under use in Asia's biggest economies. The Minister said that such models must be referred to, in the management corporations and governments.

Addressing the function, the President of the Civil Service Commission, Dr. Ali Shameem, said that instead of relying on archaic ideologies, it is more important to develop and revive exclusive South Asian ideologies.

This is the second time Maldives is hosting the South Asian Management Forum. The last conference was held in 2015 in Sri Lanka's Colombo.
