Ambassador of Sweden pays a farewell call on Foreign Minister

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Maldives, Harald Sandberg pays a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim.

At the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry yesterday, the Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for the close ties he maintained during his tenure as Ambassador and reflected on ways for further strengthening the existing ties, especially in area of climate change. Ambassador Sandberg reaffirmed the support of the Government of Sweden to Climate Change mitigation efforts of the Maldives and also stated that they would continue to support the Maldives in its democratisation journey.

This year marks the 39th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sweden. Over the years, the two countries have enjoyed cordial bilateral relations and have worked closely in the international fora on important international issues such as climate change and sustainable development.

Foreign Minister Asim was accompanied at the meeting by Secretary Bilateral Ahmed Khaleel and Assistant Director Shiuneen Rasheed.
