Sri Lanka observes dip in percentage of tourists from Maldives

Statistics showed a 13% dip in tourists originating from Maldives, says Sri Lanka’s Tourism Promotion Board. 

Statistics show that in the first quarterof this year, 24,600 Maldivians have travelled to Sri Lanka. This is a decreaseof 13% when compared to statistics from the first quarter of 2016. 

Last April alone saw over 5000 Maldivianstravel to Sri Lanka. Maldives is among the top five countries from which themost tourists visit Sri Lanka.

However, this year, everymonth saw the figures dip, when compared to the same period last year. InApril, majority of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka, was from India.  China followed closely behind
