Avid College opens a special research centre

Avid College has opened a special research center for students of AVID named "ARIC".

Avid College said that the research center will be operated in association with 4 universities of Malaysia. Avid research and innovation center aims at being a platform for research, debate and disseminate information for the students of the college. It also aims to motivate the students to do more research work.

The research center was inaugurated by State Minister at Education Ministry Ahmed Shafeeu.

Speaking after inaugurating the center, State Minister Ahmed Shafeeu said that Maldives focus should be on improving the quality of the services provided by institutions rather than increasing the number. He also added that he is very confident that AVID College has taken all the right measures in opening the center.

"If we are to expand on our sector it's very important that we collaborate with already established institutions elsewhere in the world. At the same time obtain expertise and experiences that have been gained in the sector. And I'm confident that AVID is taking up the right measures,” the State Minister said.

Vice Rector of AVID College Dr. Abdulla Rashad said that this center would support the work done to change the college to a university.

Furthermore, he said that in order to create knowledge institutions need a research center.

"We believe that the people of educational institution is not only transferring the knowledge, but we should create knowledge. Therefore, in order to create knowledge we need to have a research center. This will be something new to the Maldivian context, but those countries which are already developed are based on the research,” the Vice Rector said.
