Economic Minister attends the Belt and Road Forum in China

Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed has attended the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing, China.

Official representatives from 28 countries including China are participating in the two day forum which will conclude on Monday. The international summit on the new Silk Road plan is aimed at getting international support to build the world's largest infrastructure project.

On his official trip to China, Minister Saeed also met with the China's Vice Minister of Commerce, WANG Shouwen on Saturday. At the meeting they discussed ways to further strengthen the strong economic relations.  Minister Saeed expressed that China's Silk Road will prove beneficial to Maldives in trade as well as in the tourism sector.

China's Silk Road project is a trade and infrastructure network that includes the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, to connect Asia, Europe and Africa.
