Government in discussions to reduce power tariff

The Government of Maldives has initiated the discussions to make the price of electricity more affordable.

Addressing the inaugural function of the symposium held for powerhouse managers, Minister of Home Affairs, Azleen Ahmed said that providing better electricity services for the residents is prioritized by the government. Minister Azleen said that the government is currently in discussion with various power suppliers locally and globally. Regarding the symposium, Minister Azleen said that such symposiums are essential for the betterment of staff and their relations.

Speaking at the function, Managing Director of STELCO Abdul Shukoor Salih revealed that the main purpose of this symposium is to motivate the staff to meet service requirements of the company and to discuss ways to provide trustworthy services.

70 powerhouse managers across the country participated in the one week symposium.
