Indian navy travelling to Male' with the people stranded at sea

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that the six people onboard the stranded landing craft are being brought to Male' City onboard an Indian naval ship. MNDF said the navy ship would reach Male' tomorrow and that the six people, including the four foreigners are in good health.

The attempts to usher the stranded landing craft to Male' City are being thwarted by bad weather, which has hindered the operation of the damaged vessel, according to MNDF. The owner of the landing craft has been trying to dispatch a tugboat to help maneuver the landing craft.

The landing craft which was reported missing with six people aboard, was sighted 130 nautical miles north east of the island of Isdhoo-muli in Laamu atoll, with the assistance of the Indian navy. The landing craft steered off course after suffering damages due to the extreme bad weather while travelling from Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll, to Laamu Atoll.
