The first female Ambassador of Maldives to Bangladesh, Aishath Shaan Shakir has presented her Letter of Credence and Letter of Recall of her predecessor to the President of Bangladesh, Md. Abdul Hamid.
Ambassador Aishath Shaan Shakir was joined at the ceremony held at 'Bangabhaban' the official residence-cum-office of the President of Bangladesh by the Third Secretary at the Maldives Embassy in Bangladesh Ismail Mufeed. During the call following the ceremony, the President congratulated the Ambassador on the commencement of her term and conveyed greetings and well wishes to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the people of Maldives.
Furthermore, President Abdul Hamid discussed about potential areas of cooperation in which Maldives and Bangladesh could further develop for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The President also assured that Bangladesh will continue to assist and cooperate with the Maldives in all areas.
The Ambassador expressed sincere appreciation for the continued support and cooperation extended by Bangladesh and assured President Abdul Hamid of her commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries during her tenure of office.
