Authorities investigating speed boat accident which injured 14

Maldives Transport Authority has begun investigating the accident which involved a speed boat travelling from Summer Island Maldives with 14 people.

At the press briefing held by the Maldives National Defence Force Coast Guard and Transport Authority, the Director General of Transport Authority Abdul Naseer stated that the authority has begun investigating the accident and necessary measures would be taken accordingly upon completion of the investigation by the Marine Police.

Speaking at the press briefing, Coast Guard Commander Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim urged to take the necessary precautions while at sea. The 14 people involved in the accident were sustained with several damages, with 2 of them in critical condition.

The Coast guard revealed that in 2016, 362 cases of sea accidents were recorded.
