Pakistan donates 600 footballs and 100 futsal balls to Maldives

The government of Pakistan has donated 600 footballs and 100 futsal balls to Maldives.

The donation was handed over by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Maldives, Vice Admiral (Retired) Syed Khawar Ali Shah. The donation was received by the Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam.

Speaking after the ceremony, Minister Iruthisham said that the donation itself stands proof to the close ties enjoyed by the two nations. She also expressed gratitude that the Pakistani government's donation to the most popular sports in the country coincides with government's efforts to prioritize youth.

The Ambassador of Pakistan to Maldives noted the efforts by the government to develop sports in the country. He said that several youth centers established across the country pay tribute to the expansion of sports in the country. Furthermore, he expressed hope that the Maldives is able to win medals at international levels in the area of sports. He also noted that the most popular sports in Pakistan is cricket and revealed that the embassy would try to bring top players to Maldives for some exhibition matches.
