National Diagnostic Centre to provide significant health services

Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim says the National Diagnostic Centre would be one of the most remarkable health facilities in the region that provide significant health services.

The Health Minister said that the decision to establish such a remarkable building for the health sector proves the priority given by the government of Maldives for the advancement and improvement of the health sector.

Speaking regarding the National Diagnostic Centre Minister Nazim stated that this building is associated to the development of the health sector of the country. He added that the centre will not only be a health service centre, but also a huge landmark.  IGMH is currently working on finalizing the list of equipment needed for the building.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) is considered as the pillar of the health sector in the country. People all over the country approach IGMH for their service. This results in long queues for appointments, difficulty in attaining appointments and delayed services.

Therefore, the establishment of the 25-storey building of the state-run IGMH is expected to solve these issues. While concrete works of the building are nearly completed it will cater at least hundred and thirty thousand of the population of Male' and Hulhumale'.

Media Director of IGMH Ahmed Mausoom assured that equipment will be ordered by the end of June and that the installation works will be started next January. As the construction works of the building are fast underway, Government revealed that the centre will be completed one month prior to the scheduled date.

The ongoing project of the National Diagnostic Centre is one of the remarkable projects carried out as part of the government efforts of to further develop health sector. The centre will provide all outpatient consultation services, in addition to all laboratory and scanning services required by patients. The centre will introduce premium health services.

The new building, proposed to be developed to modern standards, will be designed to adapt the local environment of Maldives.
