Maldives Police Service has denied allegations leveled against the institution by the family of Ismail Rasheed, one of the prime suspects in the murder of prominent blogger Yameen Rasheed.
The family of Ismail Rasheed, claimed that the police had tortured the 25 year old, in a statement released on Monday.
Answering a question posed by PSM News, Head of Strategy and Legal Department of Maldivian Police Service Ahmed Shifan said that, all the allegations made by the family of Ismail Rasheed were false. Shifan however refrained from any further comments on the matter.
Maldives Police Service had earlier unveiled photos and information about the three prime suspects in the investigation into Yameen Rasheed's murder. They highlighted the various hurdles they faced in the progress of the investigation of this murder, but reiterated their commitment to utilize all available resources to find all the culprits of this crime, and to seek justice for Yameen Rasheed and his family.
