Tourist arrivals increase by 5.8% in 2017

Tourist arrivals from January to May has increased by 5.8% compared to same period last year.

572,318 tourists visited Maldives during January to May 2017, which is a 5.8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to latest statistics released by Ministry of Tourism. The country received 540,887 tourists from January to May 2016.

During January to May 2017 Maldives welcomed most tourists from Europe, with 290,968 arrivals. This is a 10.4% increase compared to the same period last year. 261,573 tourists visited the country from Europe during January to May 2016.

During January to May Maldives welcomed most tourists from Germany, with 46,807 arrivals, the figures show. Germany was followed by United Kingdom and Greece, with 45,656 tourists and 44,926 tourists arriving into the country respectively.
