Maldives has won awards in numerous categories at the Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony of World Travel Awards held at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef on Saturday.
This includes Indian Ocean Leading Destination, Leading Beach Destination and Leading Diving Destination.
The colorful gala event of World Travel Award's Indian Ocean segment was held at the five star resort, Sun Aqua Vilu Reef and saw attendance of leading tourism and hospitality industry stakeholders from the Indian Ocean. Awards were conferred in 43 categories at the ceremony, out of which a staggering 24 categories were won by Maldives. Some awards won by Resorts in Maldives include, Indian Oceans Leading Family Resort won by Sun Siyam Irufushi, which also won the Indian Ocean Leading Resort award. Leading Vila Resort was won by Anantara Kihavah while Leading Water Villa was won by Anantara Dhigu Maldives.
Elsewhere, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort won the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Island Resort and Sun Siyam Iru Fushi was named Indian Ocean's Leading Family Resort. Jumeirah Vittaveli took the title of Indian Ocean's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa while Baros Maldives was recognised as Indian Ocean's Most Romantic Resort.
