Foreign Minister returns to Maldives after visit to Abidjan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed Asim has returned to the Maldives after concluding his official visit to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, to attend the 44th Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) Meeting.

Minister Asim delivered a statement at the Session on this years theme “Youth, Peace and Development in a World of Solidarity”. In his address, the Minister highlighted the relationship between peace and sustainable development, and emphasized the importance of increasing global efforts to work together, to find mutually beneficial, shared solutions, for shared prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.

Minister Asim also held bilaterals on the sidelines of the OIC CFM Meeting in Abidjan with his counter parts and heads of delegations to the CFM Meeting from Malaysia, Mali, Brunei Dharussalaam, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Libya, and Pakistan. The Foreign Minister had warm and positive meetings with delegates from these countries.

The 44th Session of the OIC CFM was hosted by Côte d’Ivoire. The official program also included an official banquet in the honor of the OIC delegations hosted by the Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire which showcased local culture and talent, and a tour of Abidjan’s touristic attractions.
