A delegation of International Monetary Fund (IMF) has met with the Economic Affairs Committee and the Public Finance Committee of the Maldivian Parliament and held discussions on the economic situation of Maldives
A delegation of IMF visits Maldives annually and holds discussions with authorities of the government to confer about the economic issues and the hurdles in the economic growth of the county. IMF has visited Maldives last year and had discussions with the concerned authorities regarding the economic state of the country.
Last year, the team had highlighted the importance of reducing the expenditure on recurrent and providence of subsidy provided by the government. The Maldivian Government has taken major steps to implement the recommended changes.
