No-confidence motion against speaker nullified

The Parliament Secretariat has nullified the no-confidence motion submitted against the Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh.

The no-confidence motion was nullified as one of the signatories of the motion, Parliamentarian for Isdhoo constituency Ahmed Rasheed Ibrahim took back his signature and Parliamentarian for Maduvvaree Constituency Mohamed Ameeth, Parliamentarian for Thulusdhoo Constituency, Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, Parliamentarian for Villigili Constituency Saud Hussain and Parliamentarian for Dhidhoo Constituency Abdul Latheef Mohamed being removed from Progressive Party of Maldives, resulting in them losing their seats at the Parliament, according to the Parliament Secretariat. Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Moosa Manik have notified the parliamentarians of the decision, the Parliament Secretariat further revealed.

Meanwhile, a no-confidence motion against Attorney General Mohamed Anil has also been submitted to the Parliament. 15 parliamentarians need to sign the no-confidence motion against the Attorney General, according to the parliament procedure. The opposition submitted the motion with 25 signatories.
