Four tower blocks to be constructed near Rasfannu beach

Minister of Housing Dr. Mohamed Muizzu revealed practical work would begin soon, on the development of four tower blocks near Rasfannu beach. The tower blocks are to house office spaces and commercial outlets in addition to 350 residential apartments.

The four tower blocks are to be constructed on the sites behind Hiriya School and Thaajudhdheen School, in addition to the outdoor sports arena of the Youth Centre. Each tower would be 25 storeys high. Of the 350 residential apartments that would be developed in the four towers, 120 would be reserved as government housing units.

These 120 flats would be released in accordance with various government housing schemes, according to Minister of Housing Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. He maintained that the development of these four towers would not create any more congestion in Rasfannu beach. The minister assured that special attention has been given to incorporating the beach into the design of the towers.

The towers, which are to be completed by 2020, would also boast a four- level parking system. The government aims to address the issue of congestion with the four- level parking area.

Housing Minister Dr. Muizzu attributed the delay in the beginning practical work on the project, to the delay in clearing the outdoor sports area behind the Youth Centre. Chang Hua Construction of Singapore, the same contractor who is handling the IGMH upgradation project, has been contracted to build the four tower blocks as well.
