Maldivian Embassies in Malaysia, Germany and India celebrated the 52nd Anniversary of independence of the Maldives during the weekend.
Maldivian Embassy in Malaysia celebrated the Independence Day at an event held at JW Marriot Hotel. Deputy Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia, Dr. Abubakr Mohamed Dia attended the ceremony as chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by officials from the Malaysian government, Maldivian Ambassador to Malaysia, Mohamed Fahmy, officials of Maldivian Embassy and Maldivians living in Malaysia. The function in Malaysia was held with cultural performances and a feast, on the theme "promoting taste and culture of Maldives."
The Maldivian Ambassador in Germany, Jameela Ali Khalid also hosted a function to mark the Independence Day at in Hotel Adlon. Speaking at the function held to celebrate the Independence Day, Ambassador Jameela highlighted that 2017 marks the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany and stated that the Maldives views the opening of an Embassy in Berlin last September as a significant milestone.
Ambassador Jameela also expressed her gratitude for the immense contribution Germany has made towards the economic development of the Maldives, particularly in the field of tourism. During the function, the official website of the Maldives Embassy in Germany was launched. The function was attended by officials of the Federal Foreign Office, distinguished ambassadors, honorary consuls, members of the press, tourism industry partners, the Maldivian community in Germany, and embassy staff and families.

Activities were also held in the Maldivian Embassy in New Delhi to mark the 52nd Independence Day of Maldives. The activities were attended by Indian government officials, Maldivian embassy officials and Maldivians living in Delhi.
