President reiterates aims of realising people's hopes and dreams

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom reiterated the administration's aims of realising the aspirations of the people. The President made the remark while speaking at the inauguration of the newly established community centre in Hulhumale', Fahiveni.

Speaking at the ceremony held on Thursday evening, President Yameen described Hulhumale' as being filled with youthful dreams. He said that the city was tied to the youths' aspirations, and stated that the Hulhumale' housing project was among the highest priorities of this administration. The President further stated that this administration regarded the youth as an integral part of the society. He said that the administration puts in every effort to tackle the challenges faced by them, as it was essential for the progress of the nation.

In his speech, President Yameen emphasised that citizens are responsible to safeguard the country, and also stressed that Maldivians must have the drive and the skills to take this nation forward. The President also highlighted that while one group tries relentlessly at providing a quality life for the people, another is regrettably encouraging the destruction of the community. He further noted that despite some political leaders emphasizing the independence and sovereignty of the Maldives, they did not practice in their affairs, what they preached.

Stating that the administration must be held accountable, the President said that doing so must result in the people's contentment. The President called upon all political leaders and scholars to set great examples for youngsters and the youth. He also asked all leaders to reflect on what they could do for the people, as administrators of the country, and strengthen the bond with the citizens.
