MFDA to monitor for Fipronil contaminated eggs in Maldives

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has stated that they are closely monitoring the incident of Fipronil contaminated eggs in some European Union countries.

Following reports, MFDA has issued a statement citing that they are closely monitoring the situation and testing eggs imported into the country. MFDA states that in the past six months, out of the countries from which Fipronil contaminated eggs have been reported, imports were made from only Netherlands to Maldives. The authority said these were also limited amounts of imports and that it does not include eggs from the contaminated batches reported from Netherlands.

As of now they have not received any reports of the contaminated eggs being imported into Maldives but in case of such an incident, appropriate action will be taken as required, according to the authority.
