President Yameen and First Lady inaugurates "Rasrani Bageecha"

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim inaugurates the Edutainment and Heritage concept Park, Rasrani Bageecha.

Former Sultan Park, redesigned and renamed as Rasrani Bageecha was inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Madam Fathmath Ibrahim on Monday night. The newly re-developed park is the first such park in the country which brings together a concept of recreation, education and history. This is also the largest such park in the country, with the most unique features. The park which features edutainment and heritage concept.

After inaugurating the park, President and First lady observed the park. The President and First Lady visited the Usgekolhu building in the park area which was redesigned to allow students to indulge in historical studies in a fitting environment. The place is adorned with historical relics, ruins and information for the benefit of students. The park also has 3 areas for families to relax. The park has a main entrance, a Rose Garden, Children's play area and a guard room. It also has an amphitheater to screen cartoons for children. Furthermore, a led swing, reading corners and a tree house are also established in park.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom stated the park provides educational, historic and recreational opportunities for students, citing that everyone should be mindful of using the facilities most responsibly. He also spoke on the history of the sultan park.

Speaking at the opening of the park, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muzzu said that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has saved a historic site by initiating the redesigning of a place which was neglected by previous administrations.

The newly designed park will have 24 hours security and is open for free for locals, although foreigners will be charged an entrance fee. The last phase of the parks development is the snow-themed area which will be developed before the end of the year.
