President calls for united efforts for national harmony

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed all to embrace the true spirit of Eid-ul-Al'haa and to work towards national harmony at all times.

The President made the appeal in his message on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Al'haa. In his message, the President highlighted that the spirit of Eid-ul-Al'haa was to work towards harmony instead of one's personal interests. Highlighting the nation's current political climate, the President noted that political unrest might hinder sovereignty and public harmony; noting that political chaos might cause major rifts within the country.

In the message, the President stated that the Administration aims to bring the development that is required. He said that development can be brought when togetherness, peace and harmony prevail. The President emphasised that this can be achieved when society embraces the rule of law and the constitution.

Additionally, President Yameen called upon the people of Maldives to remember foremost that Maldives belongs to all Maldivians and to work towards the betterment of the nation together.
