Thilafushi Corporation Limited revealed that work is underway to lay the cable pipes to provide electricity to the industrial zone of Thilafushi Island. Thilafushi Island is one of the major industrial hubs of Maldives and the expansion of the island by reclamation has opened additional opportunities for development.
The reclaimed area is expected to be sold for development as 40 individual land plots. The core objective of Thilafushi Corporation Limited is to play a key role in the Maldivian economy by expanding the services provided from Thilafushi Island.
Thilafushi Corporation Limited currently provides services such as expanding businesses, establishing new businesses through which more job opportunities are created. The land plots of the industrial zone would cater sectors such as vessel repairing, furniture and vehicle warehousing and cold storage.
The Managing Director of Thilafushi Corporation Limited, Ahmed Nasif stated that the delay in providing the land plots of the industrial zone for business is caused due to the time taken to establish the essential services at the zone. The Managing Director further highlighted that with the establishment of a road network connecting the parts of industrial zones would bring a solution to the problem. Ahmed Nasif stated that with the establishment of the road network, the industrial zone would be provided with uninterrupted water and electricity service. He further highlighted that the development of Thilafushi Island has progressed under the administration of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's economic policy to attain higher benchmarks.
Thilafushi Corporation Limited has also revealed that discussion are under way to establish pre-fabric warehouses and to provide financial aid for businessmen operating in Thilafushi Island.
