Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has met with the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed.
At the meeting held at the United Nations headquarters, Minister Thoriq briefed the Deputy Secretary General on the activities carried out by the Maldives as the Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) and discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and the United Nations on key issues such as sustainable development and climate change.
The Deputy Secretary General recognised the leadership role by the Maldives in shaping the Agenda 2030. She said that the role of Maldives has been exemplary and have showed what is possible. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
