SME Financial Forum 2017 concludes in Meemu Atoll

Ministry of Economic Development has conducted a SME Financial Forum, targeted for small and medium business entrepreneurs in Meemu atoll. A total of 180 participants participated in the forum.

The core objective of the Regional SME Financial Forum 2017 is to disseminate information to the business entrepreneurs on initiating new business ventures and on seeking financial aid for businesses. Addressing the opening ceremony Deputy Minister of Economic Development Adam Thaufeeq stated that, through such forums, hurdles and challenges faced by small and medium level businesses would be identified and addressed.

The Deputy Minister further stated that the current administration of President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom has made great strides in the past three years, in developing this sector. He added that the increase in the number of participants in such SME forums reflects this positive change.

This forum had sessions to disseminate information about various banks such as Maldives Islamic Bank, Bank of Maldives and Maldives Monetary Authority. Sessions on networking were also held as part of the one day conference, organized by the Ministry and Enterprise Development.

This forum follows the success of a similar forum in Addu city's Hithadhoo ward. 34 business operators of Meemu atoll had taken part in the latest edition. Through the SME forum series, the Ministry of Economic Development also disseminates information on the loan schemes opened by the ministry which is targeted for small and medium level businesses.
