Phase II of ADK to be completed next year

Managing Director of ADK Hospital has expressed confidence that the Phase II of the accommodation block will be completed by the end of next year.

Speaking on the progress of the Phase II of the accommodation block of ADK Hospital, Managing Director of ADK Hospital Ahmed Affal stated that even though there were technical issues in the initial plan, the construction works of the block have begun. The Phase II includes a 10 storey building that will host 35 flats for staff accommodation and 24 additional facilities for bystanders of patients admitted at the hospital.

Speaking on Maldives Today TV programme, aired on PSM New, Managing Director of ADK Hospital Ahmed Affal expressed hope that the accommodation block would be completed by the end of next year. Managing Director Ahmed Affal added the completion of the phase II of the hospital would solve the accommodation issues faced by a lot of people. Noting that many people hesitate to come to Male' for better health care service due to accommodation issue, Affal said that solving such issues are the main aim of establishing such a block.

The aim of the accommodation block is to provide cheaper facilitates for those who travel to Male' from islands to seek healthcare and struggle to find suitable accommodation in Male for the period of stay, according to the Managing Director of the largest private hospital of Maldives. He said that rates for the rooms will be set lower so that it will be beneficial for the patients and their families. Continuing on, he indicated that this facility will enable doctors to attend to patients more quickly due to the fact that the accommodation is located within the hospital premise.

Speaking regarding the Phase III of the hospital, which is the major redevelopment project of the hospital, Managing Director of ADK Hospital Ahmed Affal stated that upon completion of the Phase III developmental project the challenge of getting beds will be solved as the bed capacity of the hospital will be increased to a total of 180 beds. He said that it will help the patients to receive medical care timely and the wait for beds will hopefully be over. He added that the works of the theatre complex, patient wards and private rooms being developed as part of their expansion project, will be completed by the third quarter of the year. He noted that the complex will be comprised of highest class of operation theatres available in the world.

The new building is developed as part of a project carried out under different phases. Most noteworthy project carried under the project is the development of the theatre complex which would have 3 operation theaters, a 5 bed recovery station, catheterization laboratory, a 5 bed care unit and CCU service with diagnostic imaging equipment used to visualize the arteries of the heart and the chambers of the heart and treat any stenosis or abnormality found. Managing Director Ahmed Affal noted that once completed, the theatre complex will meet international standards and provide excellent services for patients.
