Over 16,100 students underwent medical screening since 2014

Ministry of Education has revealed that over 16,100 students have undergone medical screening procedures, under the medical screening programme initiated by the ministry in the year 2014. The health screening procedure which was initiated in the year 2014 under the project to ensure medical wellbeing of the staff and students, has been well received.

In addition to the health screening procedures under this project, a total of 1,933 employees have also attained different levels of first aid training. The first aid programmes were initiated in 2015 under an agreement between the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defense and National Security and the Maldivian Red Crescent.

Under this agreement, various levels of first aid trainings such as; Standard level First Aid Training, Basic level First Aid, Psycho social support First Aid, Emergency Basic Life Support Training and Basic First Aid Awareness programmes have been carried out. The programmes are accredited by the College of Defense and Security Studies of the Maldives National Defense Force.

Ministry of Education stated that the core objective of such trainings is to prepare the students and staff of schools for relevant situations.
