Auditor General's Office concludes Maldives Accountants Forum

Auditor General of Maldives Hassan Ziyath has stated that the fields of accounting and auditing have to be the prime focuses of development and Maldives Accountants Forum 2017 is a revolutionizing initiative in the development of financing sector.  

In addition to auditing the government bodies, the responsibility of expanding and developing the accounting sector also falls under the responsibility of the Auditor General’s Office, he said while addressing a press briefing after the conclusion of the first ever Accountants Forum in Maldives.

In this regard, the Auditor General stated that the core objective of initiating Accountants Forum as a brand name is also for the development of the personals working in the sector by providing them with training opportunities without travelling abroad. Ziyath further highlighted that the Accountants Forum was a success and revealed plans of continuing a series of forums in the future.

On this note, he highlighted that this would provide additional opportunities for Maldivians to attain more knowledge of the financing sector. Participants of the forum highlighted that accounting and auditing sector is amongst the fastest progressing sectors in the nation and expressed the importance of attaining maximum knowledge in this field.

In addition, the participants also expressed the importance of forming an accounting body at a near future. Currently over 200 people are working as charted accountants in Maldives and recently the government has started issuing audit license to Maldivians. Auditor General's Office revealed that the work of formulating an accountancy body is progressing at a fast pace.
