Permanent Representative from Maldives to United Nations Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed has stated that Maldives has received great support from member countries in its effort to secure a seat at the United Nations Security Council.
Addressing the media at Bandos Maldives, the Permanent Representative revealed that under the aim of securing the seat, Maldives has been conducting talks with country representatives at UN office in New York, to secure their support. He said that diplomats remain assured that Maldives will work in accordance with the UN Charter and have accepted the progress that Maldives has achieved in various fields. He expressed hope that knowledge shared with other countries regarding the achievements of Maldives in development in various fields, would prove fruitful in proving how Maldives can contribute to the international community.
