Education system must focus more on students interests

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham has stated that the most important aspect in an education system is to focus on the sectors which interests students and assist them in building their capacity to go forward. The Education Minister made the statement while addressing the keynote at the opening remarks at the 4th International Teachers' Conference.

The 4th International Teachers' Conference, organised by Cambridge University Press and National Institute of Education (N.I.E) is on Curriculum Pedagogy Assessment: Innovative Visions to Foster Effective Learning. The conference is aimed at providing a platform where both local and international experts of the education sector can come together and exchange knowledge.

Addressing the keynote after inaugurating the 4th International Teachers' Conference, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham stated that the most important aspect in an education system is to focus on sectors which interests students and assist them in building their capacity to go forward. On this note, Education Minister Aishath Shiham stated that every educational institution has to perform the responsibility of providing various opportunities empowering the students by providing knowledge and activities that would teach them skills.

Addressing the ceremony, Managing Director of Cambridge University Press Rathnesh Kumar Jah stated that Maldives is the country with the highest literacy level in this region. Rathnesh Kumar Jah expressed the importance of policy makers in engaging at a learner's level.

In the opening ceremony, the Education Minister also unveiled a special issue on the 2015 Teachers' Conference. The core objective of the International Teachers' Conference is to provide opportunities in fully implementing the educational curriculum, providing assistance and knowledge to personals working in this sector.
