The commemorative stamp set to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan were unveiled by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim.
The stamps showcase various instances where the Japanese government has came forward to assist Maldives in its developmental efforts since the inception of bilateral relations in 1967. Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim thanked the Japanese government for their consistent support and urged the importance of further enhancing and developing bilateral relations between both countries. Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Kazumi Endo stated that the stamp unveiled today resembles the strong relations Maldives and Japan has enjoyed over the years.
Japan has always been a consistent and reliable support in instances of disaster and development of Maldives and has provided major aid in terms of loans and grant aids. Addressing the ceremony, Managing Director of Maldives Post Limited Ahmed Shafeeq stated that the stamps show the major aids that Japanese government has provided to Maldives such as Male' sea wall development and includes snaps from the official trip of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to Japan.
The set unveiled was designed by Maldives Post Limited which has a total of 8 stamps. Each stamp is sold at a price of MVR 25.
