President expresses gratitude for national services by the public

Addressing the ceremony held to celebrate four years of this administration's success President Yameen shed light on the administration's key achievements and milestones reached in the socio-economic and urban development sectors, during the past four years.

President Yameen also emphasized on the administration's ambitious developmental plans for the year ahead. In this regard President Yameen stated that that the current administration's policy is to recognise the invaluable services provided to the nation by members of the public, maintain peace, sustain progress and provide opportunities desired by the people of the Maldives.

Speaking at the event, the President highlighted that the administration has cleared the criminal record of 5,725 youth detainees, in an attempt to reintegrate them into society, and to facilitate their employment. Speaking in this regard, the President announced that the administration has decided to authorize salary increments to civil servants early next year, to show appreciation for their services to the nation.

The president also stated that the administration has also decided to decrease charges levied on the provision of utility services in the households of island communities, to match with fees charged in Male' city. The President stated that this would lower charges by 57%, for 92% of the Maldivian population. President Yameen also stated that this administration has conducted an average of 9 developmental projects in every inhabited island, during the past 4 years.

President Yameen concluded his speech by shedding light on the work carried out by the administration to improve the living standards of the Maldivian citizens.

The President was accompanied at the function by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, Vice President Abdulla Jihad, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials of the government, civil servants and members of the public.
