Addressing the ceremony held to celebrate four years of this administration's success, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed stated that the current administration has overshadowed all the negative criticism it has received in the four-year period, with the introduction of new developmental projects and with economical advancements.
The economic minister highlighted that within the past four years, tourist arrival has been maintained at an all time high of 1.2 million tourists year. Minister Saeed shed light on work carried out by the current administration in increasing bed capacity in Maldives. Noting that bed capacity has increased 5000 within the past four years of the current administration, the minister added that the completion of 50 resorts, which are currently in various stages of construction, the bed capacity would reach 50,000.
The Economic Minister stated that during the first term of President Yameen' his administration has created approximately 100,000 new job opportunities in the tourism sector itself.
The minister also shed light on the Maldivian Fisheries industry. He assured that the current administration has paved easier routes to overcome challenges and hurdles that the sector faces.
On this note the economic minister highlighted work carried out by the government in increasing the production capacity and easier and optimum ways of trading fish and fish products.
