Maldives has assured that it remains deeply committed to continue working to maintain the Malaria-free status. Minister of State for Health Dr. Aishath Rameela made the remarks at the ongoing High-Level Meeting on Malaria Elimination in the South-East Asia Region held in New Delhi, India.
During the meeting, State Minister Dr. Rameela affirmed that Maldives will continue to work collaboratively with World Health Organisation (WHO) and other partners to maintain the Malaria free status. Maldives will also contribute to eliminate Malaria in the region, added the State Minister. She highlighted that first hand experience of Maldives in eliminating Malaria may be of value in the pursuit to end Malaria in other countries.
Maldives is the first country in the region to be declared as a malaria-free country.
