Government to take an inventory of staple foods

Government has announced that an inventory of staple foods stocked in islands across the country would be taken on Friday.

Expanding on the matter, Minister of Defence Adam Shareef Umar said, the purpose of the inventory is to ensure that citizens do not face food shortages during this extreme weather while transportation has been interrupted.

He urged all citizens to be prudent with food stocks.

The staple food inventory would be taken by Island Councils.

The minister also said that work is underway to assess damages the extreme weather has caused so far.

Minister Adam Shareef also applauded the awareness and initiative shown by the citizens during this crisis so far.
