NDMC urges to avoid sea transport

National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) has urged to avoid sea transport, stressing to maintain all necessary precautions while at sea. A statement released by NDMC stated that it is important to act in accordance with the information and precautions released from the Meteorological Office and Maldivian Coast Guard.

NDMC further stated to construct barriers to prevent flood waters from entering the home. Most number of incidents are reported from Shaviyani and Lhaviyani Atoll, according to NDMC.

NDMC revealed that most incidents reported are of flood waters entering home. The Centre reiterated that it is prepared for any unfavourable incidents and that it has adviced the island councils on the preventive measures that should be taken in the islands.

Speaking to PSM News, Senior Programme Officer Faroosha Ali assured that the government is prepared for any health related issues which might occur due to the mixing of waste and floods. In the regard, the Senior Programme Officer said that NDMC is providing information to public on how to act in case of such emergencies.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecast fairly widespread rain all across the country with a few heavy showers and thunderstorms in some parts of the country.
