Maldives has participated in the 6th South Asia Power Secretaries Round Table Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand. The discussions of the meeting, organised by World Bank, focused on the emerging power sector development challenges and opportunities.

Considering emerging developments in the region and specific requests, the round table focused on managing large-scale variable renewable energy based grid integration, global and regional experience, including emerging energy storage systems and hydropower development in South Asia. Furthermore, electricity distribution, sector modernisation, emerging lessons for enabling demand-responsiveness and improving performance of the distribution system, global and regional experience with technologies, public-private partnerships and change management were also discussed during the meeting.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Ajwad Musthafa represented Maldives at the meeting.
