Met Office refutes claims of second cyclone approaching Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has refuted claims that Maldives would experience another cyclone on December 4 and assured that the depression that has developed near Indonesia poses no threat to Maldives.

Furthermore, the Meteorological Service stated that the Cyclonic storm Ockhi has now transformed into a severe tropical cyclone and has now moved away from the Maldivian region.

The Maldivian Meteorological Service forecast the weather conditions in Maldives have now stabilised as rain clouds formed over the Maldivian region has seen a decline.  

According to the Meteorological Office, sourthern atolls would experience scattered rain with a few thundershowers and a few showers in central and northern atolls.

Meanwhile, seas in all parts of Maldives are expected to be moderate.
