Maldives strongly condemns attack in Pakistan

Maldives has strongly condemned the shooting in Bacha Khan University of Pakistan. In a tweet posted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maldives strongly condemned the shooting in Bacha Khan University of Pakistan. Maldives expressed its support and stated that it will continue to work with the international community to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.

Pakistani Taliban gunmen in disguise, stormed the campus of an agriculture college in Pakistan on Friday, killing at least 9 people and wounding 35. Police and army troops summoned to the scene killed all of the attackers at the Agriculture Training Institute in the northwestern city of Peshawar about two hours into the attack. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility and said they had targeted a safe house of the military's Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

The Taliban are fighting to topple the Pakistani government and install a strict interpretation of Islamic law. They are loosely allied with the Afghan Taliban insurgents who ruled most of Afghanistan until they were overthrown in 2001.
