Maldivian Coast Guard urges to look out to foreign vessels adrift

The Maldivian Coast Guard has revealed that it is providing assistance to foreign sea vessels facing challenges due to drifting in to the Maldives Exclusive Economic Zone.

Maldivian Coast Guard is geared to provide assistance to foreign vessels in distress in the Maldives Exclusive Economic Zone, stated the Commander of Coast Guard Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim while speaking to PSM News, Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim urged the public to immediately notify the Coast Guard if any boat in distress is found in Maldivian waters.

Furthermore, in a statement issued, Maldives National Defence Force advised Maldivian vessels to be alert at all times for any foreign vessels in need, as a number of foreign vessels are facing challenges due to the tropical cyclone Ockhi. Sri Lankan Embassy reported 30 Sri Lankan fishing vessels adrift close to Maldivian waters.

Moreover, Maldivian Coast Guard urged to be cautious while at sea as the amount of loose debris have increased due to the devastating storm Ochki.
