The Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Sareer has departed to Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the 10th Bali Democracy Forum, to be held from December 7 to 8.
The Bali Democracy Forum which was established in 2008, is an annual, open and inclusive inter-governmental forum that focuses on the promotion and development of democracy in the Asia-Pacific region. The forum brings together senior government officials and other important stakeholders to share valuable best practices, experiences and policy initiatives on building democratic societies.
This year's theme, "Does Democracy Deliver?", will explore how the practice of democracy affects the society in terms of managing diversity, security, equity and social justice. The Maldivian Foreign Secretary will deliver a statement at the General Debate of the Forum.
