Indian Navy commences search and rescue mission in Maldivian Sea

The Indian navy has commenced a search and rescue mission in the Maldivian sea in search of lost fishing vessels and fishermen due to Cyclone Ockhi.

The spokesman of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Ibrahim Azim stated that a helicopter of Indian Air Force and a naval vessel of Indian Navy are conducting search and rescue operations in the Northern sea of Maldives. The operations are conducted with the assistance of Maldivian Coast Guard, stated MNDF Spokesman.

37 fishing vessels of India and 30 fishing vessels of Sri Lanka have been reported missing, according to reports.
