Colombo Plan selects Maldives as the President of the Council

Colombo Plan has selected Maldives as the President of the Council. Maldives was inducted as the President of Colombo Plan Council for 2017/2018 at the 293rd session.

Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mohamed Hussain Shareef accepted the post on behalf of Maldives to serve for a 2 year term.

Ambassador Shareef will also serve as Chair of the Committee on Administrative and Financial Matters of the Council.

Colombo Plan was formed in 1950, aimed to promote interest in and support for the economic and social development of Asia and the Pacific and to facilitate the transfer and sharing of the developmental experiences among member countries within the region with emphasis on the concept of south-south cooperation.
