Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has contracted the construction of three of its housing towers to a Singaporean company. The towers would be built as part of Hiya Project, which is the largest housing project launched by the government to date.
The handover was officiated with signing of agreements on December 28, according to MPL. Under the efforts of the administration to provide adequate accommodation for citizens, 1200 square feet of land has been designated for the construction of the three 14-storey towers. MPL further stated that the towers would have three room apartments and one room studio apartments.
Earlier last week, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) also handed over the construction of 2 15-stroey housing towers to a Singaporean Company.
The Hiyaa Project which is a key initiative of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to provide shelter and accommodation has designated towers for various companies.
