Emboodhoo lagoon project to create over 10,000 jobs

Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer has reiterated that Emboodhoo Lagoon mega project will pave way for immeasurable opportunities for the Maldivian youth community.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer stated that the first phase of the Emboodhoo Lagoon mega project will create more than 10,000 jobs, with more opportunities to be created with the completion of the whole project. Tourism Minister Zameer added that information regarding job opportunities created from the project will be shared with the public. The Minister noted that such information would be shared with universities and colleges in order to prepare the students for jobs.

The Emboodhoo Lagoon project is the most promising and the largest tourism development project to be conducted in Maldives. The Maldivian Government and Thailand-based Singha Estate Company aims to complete the first phase of the  USD1 billion mega project by August 2018.

While the total project consists of the development of 9 islands, the first phase of the project will see the development of 3 islands which, according to the Maldivian Tourism Minister, will create several jobs directly and indirectly.The development of tourism industry serves to enhance the health sector and the education sector as well as the whole economy of Maldives, added the Minister.
